Apogee Information Systems has facilitated a design training event to the Interreg community, providing participants with a clear overview of the successful creation and maintenance of an Interreg programme’s web presence.
The results and activities of Interreg, also known as the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) objective of Cohesion Policy, are made visible by Interact, which ensures the exchange of experience, information and innovation to promote best practices and make cooperation easier. These two programmes jointly tackle common challenges and find shared solutions in fields such as health, environment, research, education, transport, sustainable energy and more.
The training delivered by Apogee Information Systems as part of an Interact event in Budapest provided an in-depth, structured, and practice-oriented exploration of modern web design and development methodologies specifically tailored to the needs of the Interreg community. Participants were guided through the complete process of conceptualizing, building, and maintaining an effective and sustainable online presence for Interreg programmes. The training began with an introduction to current web design practices and the evolving role of digital communication, highlighting the importance of utility and aesthetics in web design. Emphasis was placed on Human-Centric and Data-Driven Design principles—ensuring that the web presence not only functions efficiently but also addresses its users' real needs and behaviors.
Throughout the sessions, participants engaged with core design elements, including graphic design fundamentals, visual communication, typography, hierarchy, responsive and adaptive layouts, and the strategic use of branding elements such as color palettes, logos, UI components, and multimedia. Through sequenced lectures, hands-on exercises, discussions, and group activities, they developed a solid understanding of UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface) approaches, learning to create intuitive wireframes and prototypes with professional tools such as Adobe XD and Figma.
The training also addressed the entire project lifecycle—from initial research and requirements gathering to specification writing, iterative development, collaboration with developers and designers, and final rollout. Specific attention was paid to Agile development, UX strategy development, user testing, and feedback integration methodologies. Participants examined real-world examples of Interreg websites to identify best practices and common pitfalls, and they were encouraged to reflect on their challenges and goals through interactive Q&A sessions.
Moreover, the training equipped attendees with the knowledge necessary to work effectively with external design and development teams, emphasizing communication, documentation, and quality assurance. Lastly, the concept of safeguarding digital projects over time was introduced, ensuring participants left with a long-term perspective on maintaining and evolving their online platforms. Overall, the training provided theoretical insights and practical, applicable skills that participants can immediately implement in the planning, execution, and ongoing management of their programme websites.
Apogee Information Systems played a central role as both the organiser and facilitator of the training, bringing its deep expertise in web technologies, UX/UI design, and digital strategy to serve the Interreg community. From the initial planning stages to the delivery and follow-up support, Apogee ensured that the training was comprehensive, highly relevant, and tailored to the participants’ specific needs. The company managed the entire lifecycle of the training programme—developing the content, preparing interactive learning materials, and delivering sessions using a well-structured methodology that combined lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. Apogee’s team of experienced consultants and designers brought practical knowledge to the sessions, drawing from real-world projects and best practices to offer applicable, high-impact guidance. Furthermore, Apogee ensured continuity and support by providing access to all training materials and offering a one-month post-training assistance period to address questions and reinforce learning. Apogee reaffirmed its role as a trusted partner in digital transformation and capacity building within the Interreg community through this holistic and professional approach.
