Apogee redesigns the Tavernarakis Lab website

Apogee Information Systems has completed redesigning and developing the Tavernarakis Laboratory website. The lab is part of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB), one of the eight institutes of FORTH (Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas), the largest research institution in Greece. The laboratory is also affiliated with the Medical School of the University of Crete. The laboratory team was the first in Greece to use the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism for biological research, starting in the mid-2001s.

The Tavernarakis Laboratory is a European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) member and has received significant awards. It has organised numerous conferences and meetings to facilitate the integration of nematode research at IMBB and to align the laboratory’s activities with the local and international scientific community.

Following the laboratory's philosophy, Apogee designed a modern and fully functional website that is adaptable to any display screen and suitable for the needs of all users. The website enables visitors to browse a majority of information about the laboratory, ongoing research, publications, microscopes, team members, and new career opportunities. Our content management system, Essence, was used. Essence CMS is being developed exclusively by Apogee, providing unlimited possibilities for expansion and future upgrades. This was a key factor in developing the website so that it can reliably evolve according to the trends of the time and the expanding needs of the laboratory.

The revamped website offers comprehensive information about the laboratory’s research focus areas, including neurodegeneration, aging and metabolism, and sensory integration. Visitors can access detailed sections on the lab’s research interests, funding sources, available resources and facilities, and multiphoton microscopy capabilities. The site also features an extensive list of publications, encompassing selected publications, journal articles, invited book chapters, and miscellaneous works. Additionally, the website provides insights into the lab’s team members, alumni, and opportunities for visitors and trainees. A dedicated news section informs users about the lab’s latest achievements, awards, and upcoming conferences and meetings.
