Apogee is proud to share the successful redesign and deployment of the website for the 14th FORTH Scientific Retreat, an event that continues to serve as a cornerstone for scientific collaboration within the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH).

This year’s website reflects a modern, user-focused approach, offering clear, structured access to essential event details, including the retreat's schedule, presentation guidelines, venue directions, and accommodation options. The site was built with a custom design, seamlessly integrated into FORTH’s existing Essence CMS platform. Apogee ensured a smooth and efficient workflow tailored to the institution’s infrastructure by leveraging the CMS's multisite management capabilities.

From a technical perspective, the development process included the implementation of a responsive frontend architecture using modern HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks, ensuring optimal performance and accessibility across all devices. The backend was customised within the Essence CMS framework to support dynamic content modules and registration data management, allowing FORTH’s editorial teams to easily update event details, schedules, and speaker information without developer intervention. Special attention was given to performance optimisation and compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG), as well as SEO best practices to enhance the site’s visibility and user reach.

Key features include a dedicated registration form and a fully responsive design, allowing the platform to adapt fluidly across devices and screen sizes. The result is a polished and professional online presence that enhances user experience and engagement.

The FORTH Scientific Retreat, now in its 14th iteration, has been a recurring event since its inception in 1996 in Heraklion, Crete. Organised roughly every two years, it rotates among the cities that host FORTH Institutes and serves as a vital forum for researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. Participants engage in oral and poster presentations and interdisciplinary discussions that promote scientific synergy.
