“Holy Fire – The Revelation of the Truth” Website launched
21 November, 2024

Apogee Information Systems presents a new website for journalist Dimitris Alikakos’ investigative work on the Holy Fire. The site organises a large body of text, evidence, and case materials into a clear reading experience, helping visitors access sources and conclusions with minimal friction.

Dimitris Alikakos, editor-in-chief of the fact-checking team “Ellinika Hoaxes,” began research in April 2018 to document how the Holy Fire is ignited in Jerusalem. After three expeditions, he published his findings in March 2019 in Lýtrōsē – Perí tou Hagíou Fotós (Redemption – On the Holy Fire), concluding that human hands are responsible for lighting the flame. The website presents supporting evidence and records subsequent legal disputes with the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, in which Alikakos reports he was vindicated.

Solution & Technology
Apogee delivered a WordPress-based website with a text-first design. Careful typography, logical sectioning, and stable internal linking serve long-form reading. The build emphasises performance and navigability, with structured menus, short click paths, and consistent metadata to help readers move quickly from claims to sources. Responsive on all devices and screens, the website enhances the digital presence of the research, facilitating global dissemination and emphasising its importance through a modern, interactive, and multimedia-rich environment, fully aligned with Mr Alikakos’s vision.

Fast access to content is achieved through lightweight pages and a clear hierarchy, which reduces overall time-to-read. Short navigation routes, with convenient cross-links and section anchors, minimise the number of clicks between evidence, analysis, and legal materials. The clean aesthetic, characterised by unobtrusive styling, keeps attention focused on text, citations, and document scans. Furthermore, sustainable operations are ensured by using WordPress, allowing straightforward content updates without the need for specialised tooling.

Apogee followed a focused, phased process: content mapping and editorial structure were established first, followed by implementation and refinement based on reading-flow testing. The current release prioritises clarity and source traceability.

“Our goal is to let the material speak for itself,” said Ieva Tauraite, Senior Developer at Apogee Information Systems. “By pairing a text-centric layout with fast, predictable navigation, we support careful readers who want to examine claims, consult sources, and form their own conclusions.”
